Future Projects

Sivananda Saraswathi Sevashram has various plans and objectives to improve and also to provide a foundation for the future of the orphan children and various other weaker groups of our society. The institution wants to expand gradually but steadily by opening different chapters. We want to expand different projects covering different cross sections of the community which not only includes orphan children but also working women, deaf and dumb, blind and many other areas where help is required in the community. The future plans and the expansion thereby depends upon the help extended by the Government, public, and the NRIs.

1. WORKING WOMEN'S HOSTEL:

There is a need for starting a Hostel for working women at our Ashram, which is located 25 Miles away from the city of Chennai. Our Ashram has about 100 villages adjacent to a satellite town called MARAI MALAI NAGAR. These are the days where Women go to work, helping her spouse to run the family in a decent manner. Sivananda Ashram plans to start a working women's hostel accommodating 50 women. The project requires funds for construction and the recurring expenditure can be met from the beneficiaries.

2. A SCHOOL FOR DEAF AND DUMB:

Sivananda Orphanage since its expansion had the need to start a Deaf and Dumb School as many people had approached requesting to cover this area. Moreover when the organization is already serving in different areas, it will be easy to cater the necessity of deaf and dumb under one roof. Although Government may aid in giving a nominal grant of Rs. 36/- per child per month, we require finance and resources to construct building and other infrastructures. If finance and resources are available, Ashram will be proud to start a deaf and dumb school attached with this Organization.

3. SERVICE TO BLIND, SPASTIC AND MENTALLY CHALLENGED:

The organization desires to start this project as the problems in the Country are multifold and people who were affected mentally and/or blind are also to be taken care, along with the orphan children. The above categories cannot be alienated from the main stream, since they depend on us. When a kid is orphaned, affected by Aids, or physical handicapped, they should not be neglected. Many people who are affected by the above categories approach us to start this project. We also feel that there is an urgency to start this project, provided the like-minded philanthropists and well-wishers help us financially.

4. AN OLD AGE HOME EXCLUSIVELY FOR WOMEN:

This humanitarian center is presently providing a home for aged men and an old age home for couples too. We have in all, around 80 senior citizens. There is need to start an old age home exclusively for women. Since women require privacy, separate rooms are to be constructed.  This project involves a sum of Rs. 50 Lakhs, which includes building and other amenities. We are sure that this project will take shape in the very near future.

5. SIVANANDA ARTS COLLEGE WITHOUT DONATION FEE:

The order of the day is “education is being commercialized”. The rich and affluent have means and money to pay the initial fee to get their wards admitted in Colleges. In Tamilnadu, India there are more than 400 orphanages run by various voluntary organizations. Thousands of orphan children pass out every year after finishing their higher secondary education. As they are orphans, they do not have either moral or financial support to pay for their education in the Graduation / Post graduation level.  All children may not shine and come out successfully with good marks to continue their education. Nevertheless few hundred children or less, may require an entry at the graduation level and our Ashram wants to provide an opportunity to start a College first of its kind without charging any fee, with various competitive facilities to all the kids of orphanages in Tamilnadu. We are sure that the college will be started soon with the support from our well-wishers and the government.

6. SIVANANDA SARASWATHI SEVASHRAM HOSPITAL:

The institution is currently running a dispensary catering to the needs of the inmates of the Sevashram and the school. This will have to be enhanced into a full-fledged Hospital whereby it can serve to the needs of the school, orphanage, old age home, residents of the neighboring areas and can assist the general public in case of accidents. We propose to construct this hospital, which includes trauma care, general check-up, and all other competitive facilities of medical science.

7. SIVANANDA SARASWATHI SEVASHRAM POLYTECHNIC:

This is a pet project of the organization for the future of orphan children, who can be well shaped. The attitude and creative interest of our children is more technical than commercial. The present market trends does not give much value for a graduate or a post graduate. Hence, Sivananda Ashram plans to set up a polytechnic with all departments enabling the children to qualify them in a particular trade. This institution will help an orphan to get himself/herself technically qualified enough to get a job in the areas of mechanical, civil, electrical, electronics, computer science, and far more that is essential for the society. This project will not only help 300 orphan children of Sivananda Saraswathi Sevashram but also for thousands of orphan children in Tamilnadu. We propose to erect plant and machinery, getting recognition from the government, constructing a building and other infrastructures in starting a polytechnic. By the grace of Almighty, Sivananda Saraswathi Sevashram polytechnic should start functioning within a year or two.

8. COMPUTER TRAINING CENTER:

The importance of Information Technology/Computer Technology is increasing exponentially in India. The frequent visits of the industry fame Mr. Bill Gates and even the back and forth visits of the leaders of the two countries (President of the United States & Our Prime Minister) can easily vouch for this fact. Even the villages in our country are slowly developing in the Computer field. Given the circumstances, as a social welfare organization we also propose to start a Computer Training Center not only to the kids of Sivananda Orphanage but also to as many orphan children coming out from various organizations in the State of Tamilnadu. We require at least 50 computers to start this Computer Training Center. It would be really helpful, if every donor who comes for a vacation from abroad brings us one PC/head with basic Specs & Configuration. Or a donor can donate a sum of Rs. 35,000 or $900 (which is approximately the going rate for a full-fledged PC here at Chennai, India) towards the Computer Training Center Fund. We are hopeful that many of our well-wishers will  certainly respond to our appeal in this regard.
